Description

Propionic acid is also known by its scientific name: propanoic acid. The latter is the chemically correct term, while propionic acid is the trivial name of the short-chain fatty acid. In nature, propionic acid is a component of some valuable essential oils. But above all, it is produced by beneficial bacteria in the human intestine, more precisely in the large intestine. There they produce propionic acid from undigested complex carbohydrates, i.e. from fiber.

There are currently no approved health claims available regarding the effects of propionic acid. Information on current studies can be found, for example, on the Multiple Sclerosis Portal AMSEL , on the website of the Ruhr University Bochum or in a report on SWR2 .

Interesting facts

Propionic acid is used in food in the form of its salts sodium propionate, calcium propionate or potassium propionate due to its volatility and taste. One of the properties of short-chain fatty acids is that they are particularly reactive. Chemically speaking, they have a hydrogen atom that can easily be released and replaced by other substances. In the case of salts, this means: remove the superfluous hydrogen atom, add sodium - and you have sodium propionate. Industrially, this is done with the help of sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda. Anyone who paid attention in chemistry will remember that acid and alkali become salt and water. In the case of propionic acid, this is exactly what happens. The reverse process is just as unspectacular: in a moist environment, the salt dissolves and releases the propionic acid again.

What is the best way to take the product?

Take 2 capsules daily with plenty of liquid. You can take both capsules at the same time or divide them into two separate doses during the day. According to reports, it is advisable to take them with or after a meal, but not on an empty stomach.

Can the powder be removed from the capsule and taken without the capsule shell?

If you want to open the capsules, you should do so with caution: Sodium propionate in powder form can irritate the skin, mucous membranes, eyes or respiratory tract if it comes into direct contact.

Can interactions with other products occur or can they be combined?

We are not aware of any interactions. If in doubt, please speak to your doctor before taking the medication.

Sehr zufrieden, mittlerweile seit Jahren

Ich nehme Propital seit mittlerweile mehreren Jahren ergänzend zu meiner MS-Medikation. Ursprung war eine Tendenz zu starker Müdigkeit und Stimmungsschwankungen, die aus dem Alltag heraus nicht zu erklären waren. Mit der Einnahme von Propital hat sich diese Situation aufgelöst. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und kann nur hoffen, dass es Propital noch lange gibt und mehr Menschen mit MS es für sich entdecken.

Die propionsäure könnte eine Hilfe gegen meine ms sein
Starke Veränderungen nach der Einnahme hab ich nie gespürt. Dennoch werd ich bei ihnen immer bestellen, weil nach Erkundigung ihre propionsäure von sehr guter Qualität sein soll, obwohl es auch günstigere propionsäure gibt.da bin ich allerdings sehr vorsichtig.
